Animals that are at risk are placed into various catergories to describe the level of threat they are under.


The following 2 links will help you to understnad the various levels that animals are placed under. Have a look at the information to develop your knwoledge.

    The Bandicoot is a endangered species because people are killing them.
    Interesting fact :the bandicoot is now found in Tasmania

    Critically endangered- mountain gorilla
    There are only 880 left they are about this size of a big bush

    Endagend- Indian elephant there are 20. 000 to 25.000 they have flat legs at the bottom of it

    Vulnerable- polar bears ther are 20.000 left they live in the artic

    Near threaten-narhal there are 80.000 left in the world they have a big stick on there head to protect them

    Endangered:chimpanzee,they are endangered because people are cutting down there habitat.
    They can live up to 50 years old.

    The 4 types of endangerment are extinct, critically endangered, endangered or vulnerable.

    Critically endangered- Amur leopards are critically endangered because they are poached by many hunters.
    What new things we learnt: people protect the Amur Leopard

    Endangered-orang-tang are endangered because we cut down there home for paper and palm oil
    What new things we learnt: orang-utans are the largest arboreal mammal

    Vulnerable- African elephant are endangered because people hunt and poach them for their ivory.
    What new things we learnt: Their large ears allow them to radiate excess heat.

    Near endangered- jaguars are nearly endangered because they hunt for wildlife trade.
    New things we learnt: Jaguars are strong swimmers.

    Estimated that there is only 5000 all together.
    Instead of legs they Sea-Lion has flippers.

    Criticly Endangered >>>> Black Rhino
    There is only 4,848 left.
    A total of 333 rhinos were killed in South Africa in 2010 – almost all in one day.

    Endangered >>>> Blue Whale
    there is only 10,000-25,000 left.
    The Blue Whale is the largest animal on the planet.

    Rare and Endangered >>> Numbat
    Don’t know how many are left in the wild
    The numbat needs to live where termites are.

    Extinct:the dodo is extinct which means there are not one of the left in the world.The dodo is in the duck family

    They weigh 10 tons

    Less than 10,000
    They are only 2 feet in length

    Black Rhino is critically endangered. It’s scientific name is Diceros Bicornis. Galapagos Penguin is endangered. Because the El Niño heat wave is caused by global warming. African Elephant is vulnerable. It’s scientific name is Loxodonta Africana.the Tasmanian tiger is extinct because its environment is small.

    feet horizontally and up to 10 feet vertically.
    2. (Black spider monkey endangered) It is found in eastern South America in areas north of the Amazon River.
    3. (Whale shark Vulnerable) It is the biggest fish in the ocean.
    4. (Jaguars nearly threatened) They are strong swimmers and climbers.

    There are less than 400
    sumatran tigers are pretected by the law which was made by the indonesia.
    Endangered-Galapagos Penguin
    There are Fewer than 2000
    This is the only penguin species found in the equator in the Galapagos.
    Vulnerable-Red panda
    There are less than 10,000
    The red panda has a bear like body and russet fur.
    Near threatened-White Rhino
    There are only 20,170 left
    White rhinos are the second largest land mammal
