Stereotypes.

March27

In reading this week some of the students have discussed STEREOTYPES.

“Stereotyping is the act of judging a person or group of people because of the actions or behaviors of others that are similar. Stereotyping can be on people in a certain racial group, age group or even on pepole who live in a certain area”.

*Think about how the 2 pictures above could show a stereotype.

*What other stereotypes can you think of in your own life, society or even TV shows you watch?

The stereotype the 2 pictures are saying is that boys don’t normally dance and dancing is mainly a girls sport and also girls don’t normally play soccer is mainly a boys sport because a stereotype is that girls always get hurt and boys are stronger.

A stereotype in my own life is my mum always cleans the house my dad never dose it and people say that the boys are normally into watching TV and playing sports.

A Stereotype that I’ve seen is when watching Jurassic Park because
Dr . Grant saves the little girl from the T. Rex, Velociraptor and in Jurassic Park 3 he saves the lady from the Spinosauras.:)
    🙁

A TV show I seen the main character is a girl but why can’t it be a boy.
Another TV show most people say it’s for girls but boys can watch it.

Over the holidays, one night, I watched Frozen and in most Disney movies the prince saves the princess or helps the princess but in Frozen the sisters helped each other and the boy didn’t save the girl.

This is a silly stereotype but it is that only girls wear nail polish. I have seen on T.V shows just say the voice the judge seal ALWAYS wears nail polish.
I think it is mainly for girls but boys can wear it too if they want. 🙂
